What is caas india campaign?
Campaign Against Ankylosing Spondylitis India (#caasindia) has been started with the aim of resolving the basic problem of AS fighters. Patients do not get affordable and convenient treatment. Apart from this, health insurance facility is also not available. The patients are unable to bear the expenses due to the High cost of effective Biologics in easing the lives of the fighters fighting the disease. The related issue has been raised in front of the Government of India and the Ministry of Health under the campaign. The government has accepted our memorandum. The matter is pending with the Health Ministry. In order to meet our demands, we needs to show the magnitude of the disease in front of Government.
💢 #caasindia has demanded the following from the Indian government for the #AS affected:
1. Convenient and readily available treatment facility
2. Convenience of #healthinsurance coverage for all classes of AS patients.
3. #Biologics can be provided at controlled and affordable prices.
4. Priority in the treatment of any health institution like cancer and heart patients
5. Start of #rehabilitation program for #ASpatients
6. To include AS in National Health Policy
Why do we need a campaign?
Several groups and pages are being operated in the name of ankylosing spondylitis welfare on various social media platforms, but there were only general discussions. While we need to understand the basic problem of patients suffering from ankylosing spondylitis .We need regular treatment.
Due to costly treatment, 95 percent of the people are deprived of treatment. Consequently, he is compelled to live in pain all the time. Their physical structure is affected. Due to which their social and economic life is affected. In such a situation, the patient suffers from being monotonous and isolated.
Challenges:
There is also lack of awareness among ordinary people and doctors against ankylosing spondylitis. Because of which the disclosure is delayed and then the condition of the patient has been affected.
The government also sees this disease as normal arthritis. As a result, this disease has been de-listed by the IRDA. Consequently, patients are not getting health insurance facility. On the other hand, the price of biologics available to prevent the progression of ankylosing spondylitis is so high that it is not possible for 9 7% of people to buy it. Not only this, there is also a huge reduction in the disease experts in the country. There is also indifference towards the rehabilitation process across the country. You all know how important physiotherapy is for patients suffering from ankylosing spondylitis, but physiotherapy is not possible for everyone on a daily basis. The economic condition of patients is the main reason behind this.
